About this venue

In the heart of Southwest France, just 5 minutes from the centre of Dax and 10 minutes from its TGV station (Paris in 3h20 direct), and 45 minutes from Biarritz airport, Domaine Array Dou Sou - "Ray of Sunshine" in Gascon - is the former Château des Évêques de Dax, a Historic Monument dating back to 1304, set within a classified 4.5-hectare park.

For the weekend, the entire domain is yours exclusively, from Friday 4pm to Sunday 4:30pm. Say your vows under centuries-old trees, by the water, or in the château's classified salons; raise a toast in the illuminated Cour d'Honneur (up to 876 guests); then dine and dance the night away in the 300m² air-conditioned Orangerie - seating 300, or 550 for a cocktail reception, with no curfew. A consecrated private chapel is also available for religious ceremonies of up to 20 people.

On site, 14 bedrooms sleep 43 (including 2 accessible rooms) for the couple and their closest guests; for everyone else, Dax offers over 2,100 hotel rooms just 5 minutes away, from €55–135 a night for two. Cool off in the heated, salt-treated (chlorine-free) 14×4m pool with a beach entry, open May to mid-October.

Should the weather turn, there's a genuine indoor plan B - the cocktail hour simply moves into the château's classified salons, not a marquee. A private car park (83 spaces, including 4 EV charging points) completes the setup, and the underfloor-heated château stays open year-round.

With over 150 Google reviews - all five stars - and a sustainability score of 98% from Landes Attractivité, Domaine Array Dou Sou pairs centuries of history with genuinely thoughtful hospitality.
