About this venue

Cosimo I de’ Medici had this castle built in 1564, and today its gates open for weddings. Castello del Capitano delle Artiglierie stands inside the fortified town of Terra del Sole, in Emilia-Romagna on the border with Tuscany, with a centuries-old park around it and the hills of the Tuscan-Romagna countryside beyond.

The celebration can move through the castle as the day does. Exchange vows in the gardens, raise a glass at sunset on the panoramic terrace, dine alfresco, and when dinner ends, carry on in Le Château Club, the castle’s private indoor nightclub, where the party can run until 4 AM. If the weather turns, beautiful indoor spaces are ready.

The castle is officially authorised for legally binding civil ceremonies, so you can marry on site, and the historic Church of Santa Reparata is a short walk away for a Catholic ceremony. Five suites sleep up to 15 guests, with breakfast included, and exclusive-use packages let you stretch the celebration across a welcome dinner, the wedding day and a farewell gathering. An in-house planning team looks after the details.

Ideal for couples who want a castle of their own, a late night that does not end at midnight, and a wedding that feels unmistakably Italian.
